Are you ready to start the New Year with a kick? Rock to a new beat with free music from the Library! Not only do we have a fantastic CD collection, we also have free downloadable music.
Well, it’s here. 2013 has begun, and it’s time for another New Year’s resolution. If you’re like me, after eating all that Christmas ham and holiday fudge, I always make the same promise to myself -- get healthy. Before you know it, we’ll be picking out swimsuits and making beach vacation plans, so we might as well start now.
Do you ever just want someone to know how you feel, to understand what you’re going through? I guess it’s called empathy, and we all need a friend to feel it for us once in a while. Sometimes, it’s hard to express an exact emotion, but Mies Van Hout’s hand drawn fish can do just that.
When you think about a librarian, what do you see? Are you seeing her now? Does she have a stylish bun, a frumpy cardigan, and thick glasses? Is she shushing you? Ok, ok, I get it, but what is her stereotypical personality? I’m hoping that it’s better than her wardrobe…
So, the Library is always open, right? Well, usually, but we are taking a couple of days off for the holidays…
We will be closed Monday, December 24th and Tuesday, December 25th for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. We’ll also be closed Monday, December 31st and Tuesday, January 1st for New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.
During both of those weeks, we’ll be taking a break from storytime too, but we’ll be back to our regular schedule the week of January 7th.

By my calculations, we’ve been knee deep in Christmas for eight weeks. You could have bought a Christmas tree in the second week of October. Santa was at the mall by Halloween, and I’m sure that somewhere out there Valentine’s candy is lurking on a store shelf.
It’s Christmas time! Faith, family, and fun are all different aspects that people enjoy around the holiday season. Although December 9, 1965 isn’t written about in any history books; it’s a date most people will appreciate. It’s the first time that the beloved Charles M. Schultz classic, A Charlie Brown Christmas, was aired on CBS! It now airs regularly on ABC since it acquired the rights from CBS. It has claimed both an Emmy Award and Peabody Award.
