Retirement, a Full-Time Job?

After 16 rewarding years at MCPL, it is time for me to say goodbye. It is with both sadness and excitement that I prepare to leave. The past 10 years at Camden Point as the Branch Manager have been a time of learning, growing, and experiencing the life of this community and the people whom I will truly miss.

It's the Great Pumpkin!

Well, it is that time of year again! Every store you go to, there are pumpkins out front. Pumpkins so big you can barely lift them, and pumpkins so tiny you wonder what in the world am I supposed to do with it. Then, there is the bakery section with the pumpkin donuts, cakes, rolls, and cookies. Don’t forget the pumpkin cappuccino to go with those sweets. You can even find pumpkin soup in some areas.

C Is for Cookie And That Is Good Enough for Me!

October is National Cookie Month, now I have an excuse to eat more cookies! It wouldn’t be right if I didn’t support National Cookie Month. EVERYONE likes cookies!

What's for Dinner?

What’s for dinner? . . . the three most dreaded words in the English language to the main cook of the house. Sometimes inspiration into what to fix that would be fun and tasty eludes us, and another meal of spaghetti or tuna casserole is just not going to cut it.

Glorious Grandparents!

Listening to the violin, fresh baked cinnamon rolls, drawers and drawers of costume jewelry, and fancy, little, "church" hats, disappearing in the branches of the enormous Weeping Willow, Mimosa trees, and Lake Texoma - those are memories I hold dear when I think about my grandparents. Oh boy, I don’t think I was ever very eager to take the twelve hour car ride to Kingston, OK, smashed between my 3 sisters or the 2 hour car ride to Belle, MO that always made me car sick. But, there were cousins, fried catfish and hush puppies, horseback rides, walks to the corner store t

Where Did My Summer Go?

Summer is my favorite season, and I am not ready for it to be over! It feels like just yesterday I was on the beach at Sanibel Island, Florida, and now school has already started. I particularly did not care for the drought or the 105 degree days, but other than that, I love this time of year. Sunshine makes you feel better, and the days are longer. I also like sitting outside in the early evening with a glass of sweet tea and reading a good book.

Get Up and Move!

We all know that exercise is something that we should do, but most of us just don’t want to. For me, the key is finding an exercise program that I like. MCPL has a great selection of workout DVDs. Here are some of my favorites:
