Some of you may not know this, but the bridge over the I-29 exit at County Roads E and U in Camden Point is no longer there. It was demolished in the evening hours of May 10, 2013. The construction of the new bridge should take most of the summer. But we at the Camden Point Branch are still here, and the Library is open as usual. You might have to take a few scenic routes for a while, but at least the weather is nice.
My preteen son has been begging to take guitar lessons, but with all the other activities he’s involved in, I could not imagine adding one more evening scramble to our week. Not to mention, lessons are pretty expensive, and our family’s budget is maxed out. Recently, I learned the Library offers the perfect solution. Guitar lessons he can take from home, for free!
With school soon to be out, what is there for young minds to do to avoid hearing, "I’m bored"? Here at the Camden Point Branch, we will have programs that can help exercise those young minds.
Oh No! I’ve done it again. I have so many great books on hold, and now they are all coming in at the same time. I’m getting ready to go on vacation. What can I do?
Once again, our idyllic spring is being rudely interrupted with storm warnings. Whether planning for a natural disaster or just for good common sense, it seems like a smart idea to have a few weeks of food and water safely stored away.
My boys were recently inducted into NJHS, National Junior Honor Society. I was a little curious about this organization’s background, so I thought I would do a little research.
NJHS was started in 1929 with middle school students in mind. The high school version, NHS, was started in 1921. Both organizations put emphasis on scholarship, leadership, service, and character. NJHS also includes citizenship.
There are so many things out there today we would all like to try but that famous phrase always seems to pop into our minds; “It’s Too Hard” or “I Am in Way Over My Head!" Technology is moving at such a quick pace that it is hard to keep up. Those of us that are 40 years and older have even a harder time because we did not grow-up with the Internet always being a standard part of our lives.
If more of us ate like diabetics, maybe it would reduce the rate at which diabetes is developing. I know eating like a diabetic doesn’t sound too appetizing, but I found some very good recipes in the January/February 2013 issue of Diabetic Cooking magazine.
Don’t we all like going to the movies? Well, sometimes the movie doesn’t live up to all the hype that Hollywood has fed us. What a waste of $10.00 and an evening! If there was a good way to find out what the storyline is going to be, maybe we would choose to skip some of these "Big Blockbusters" that movie producers say we just must see.
