It's Christmas Time! Fun Songs and Rhymes to Share with Your Little Ones...
Christmas is only 4 weeks away! But before then, we’ll have fun singing and reading books as we countdown to the magical day of opening presents! Here are some fun songs we’ll be singing: Ring the Bells to "London Bridges" and it goes like this:

The New Social Technology... Are We Making Friends or Losing Them?
Lately I have been giving a lot of thought to relationships, particularly friendships in adulthood, and the way they seem to be rapidly changing given our newer means of communicating with one another. With technology such as texting and Facebook so easily connecting us to one another, I have noticed in my personal life that it is often replacing, dare I say, better forms of human interaction such as hearing someone’s voice on the telephone or even meeting in person to interact. I can’t help but wonder if the art of friendship and real relationships is deteriorating.
In a Split Second... Change the Worst Day for a Soldier into the Best Day
Do you like to write letters and send care packages? Are you thankful for our military? Does making people smile make you feel all warm and fuzzy? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then I have a website for you.
The Soldiers' Angels is a non-profit organization started in 2003 by the mother of two American soldiers. Since then, hundreds of thousands of volunteers have written letters, sent food, socks, and toiletries and offered all kinds of support to our men and women in uniform.
Since I've been dealing with all sorts of medical issues, enjoying the outdoors has been the furthest thing from my mind and not much of a desire. However, while being home sick yesterday, I took just a few moments to sit out on my front porch and soak in some warmth and colors. The leaves that were still attached to a tree limb were breathtaking. I sat there, sniffing, holding my tissues and hot tea, and just closed my eyes and gave thanks for all that I have in life.
Getting old is inevitable. Watching your parents not be what they were is heart wrenching. What's the easiest way to make this process even more difficult?...don’t plan ahead.
When it’s time to take on the new responsibilities of helping care for your aging parents, negotiating the world of eldercare is bewildering. Add in the fact that your parents don’t feel well or are confused makes your decisions even more important. Your parents don’t want to be a burden. You want them to remain as independent as possible, but they need help to negotiate the eldercare maze.

While roving throughout the Library, I came across the Adult Graphic Novels section. And shelved there, I found something quite extraordinary. The Manga Classic Readers series has started converting the world’s favorite classics into graphic novels.
"But aren’t graphic novels for young adults and teens?"
While the graphic novel in general is very popular among the younger audiences, it doesn’t mean that all ages can’t enjoy them. With these graphic novels, you can experience all the modern literature in this new format.
Have you ever wondered where we get our ideas for storytime? Once a year, fellow children’s librarians gather together at MCPL Headquarters for a storytime inservice. We share ideas, resources, and listen to a speaker about the importance of early childhood literacy. But we also have other resources we use to help us along in the process.
