Diabetes Awareness month is November, and World Diabetes Day is celebrated every year on November 14th. Millions of people worldwide are involved in diabetes advocacy and awareness. The focus theme for 2009-2013 is Diabetes Education and Prevention.
November 1st is National Author’s day, and as every reader and book lover knows, that is the day to celebrate your favorite author or authors.
It all started way back in 1928 when Nellie Verne Burt Mcpherson of the Belmont Illinois Women’s Club wanted to honor her favorite author, Irving Bacheller, who wrote Eben Hoden’s Last Day A’Fishin. She sent him a letter, and he responded by sending back an autographed copy of his book. It wasn’t until 1949 though that the U.S. Department of Commerce recognized it.

Patricia Bays Haroski, an employee at State Farm Insurance Company in Illinois, registered it with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Ms. Haroski chose the date because it was her father's birthday; who was her boss.
My favorite Sesame Street character would have to be Oscar the Grouch, that’s why I was happy to see there’s a National Grouch Day. Celebrated on October 15, this special day is dedicated to all things grouchy.
