The Mid-Continent Public Library is much more than just books and computers. One of our most popular features is our programs for everyone from children to senior customers. For one of our adult programs at the Claycomo Branch, customers made a beaded Uncle Sam. He has lights inside and is good for a night light or just pretty to have for the Holidays. This is a very intricate project that sometimes requires two sessions to complete. There are more beading projects coming up in the future.
This makes me think of the best dancing books that I have read. There are so many different stories that contain dancing as part of the characters backgrounds. I have selected my top three favorites to share with you.
Library staff still get confused faces every once and while when asking that question of patrons. What does that mean? Answer: Most libraries in the United States (and many throughout the world) participate in the Interlibrary Loan system known as WorldCat. This network allows for libraries to share parts and pieces of their collections, trading within different library systems.
Summer means two things in the library world – the Summer Reading Program and vacations. If you’re headed out of town this July or August – and you’re worried that the book you’ve had on the holds list since January is going to come in while you’re out of town – and be gone before you get back… don’t panic! You can ‘suspend’ your hold while you’re out of town! This will hold your place in line.
What do kids from Camden Point do during the summer? Camden Point does not offer a lot of entertainment as larger communities and the city provide. However, kids are very resourceful and tend to stay busy.
One way for kids to stay busy is to play ball. They play T-ball, coach pitch, and kid pitch. There are A leagues, AA leagues, and AAA leagues; starting from preschool all the way through high school. Usually there are two games a week; with traveling to be done to the neighboring towns.
