I don’t know about you, but when I read a book that I really, really like, I envision it as a movie. In my head, I cast actors, design sets, stitch costumes, and hire a director. I think we all know the thrill (and the fear) that comes when a favorite book is turned into a movie. But did you realize that there are plenty of people out there who read a book and hear music? Young children need a variety of skills to become good readers. Reading aloud to your preschoolers, introducing new books to them, and helping them notice the print are valuable ways in building on these skills. You can promote good reading skills by reading aloud to your child. Afraid your infant is going to tear up a book? Give them a board book. Touching and playing with books is an introduction to building their reading skills.
