At the library, we have a calendar with pictures of cats. Usually when you think of cats, you picture them as cute and playful. For instance, a famous library cat you may know of is Dewey from Spencer, Iowa.
Temperatures have finally cooled down, fall is in the air. For me, that means time to separate my sheep into two groups, the boys and the girls. I am a shepherd. I have a small flock of Blue-faced Leicesters, a breed of sheep with a lovely soft fleece. Hand spinners very much enjoy working with this fleece. There are many breeds of sheep as well as many colors and qualities of fleece. This breed of sheep is also well known for a pleasant disposition--even the rams are easy to handle. Also, I have border collies to help me with the sheep.

The two Swagger series by Stephen Hunter are fast paced, action packed, and my personal favorites. Earl Swagger was a Marine WWII Medal of Honor winner and an Arkansas State Police Sergeant. His Son, Bob Lee, is a Marine Vietnam veteran and famous Sniper. Hunter pays special attention in his novels to descriptions of firearms and their operation. He is also a Kansas City native.
What is it about a place that is ten miles wide, one hundred sixty mile long, a mile deep and attracts 4.5 million tourists every year? Well, it's the Grand Canyon, of course. The colossal carved rock formations come alive with the continuous changing light and shadow. You will be mesmerized by the shades of purples, blues, greens, reds, orange, browns, and tans that are ever-changing throughout the day. It makes you feel peaceful and calm. You see people standing or sitting on the edge of the Canyon gazing over the amazing scenery.

I noticed that we have cookbooks for popcorn in the library catalog. Can you believe it? Popcorn! So, if you love popcorn, or if you are eating a lot of it out of necessity, perhaps you would like to try some new ideas.
