These books are worth talking about and reading. You’ll find cowboys, camels, and some great writing in these pages. Here’s the list of good books I’ve read lately in reverse order.
"Welcome," Betsy called down from the porch, "to the year 1890." And that's when it hit me. Those women who work at the historic field trip places? Betsy wasn't one of them. These weren't costumes she and Ron were wearing. Their clothes were for real. And in about five minutes, all of this would be real for me to.
Ever get so stressed at work that you feel like you can't take it anymore? Are co-workers, duties, and environment bringing you down? Head on over to your local Mid-Continent Library Branch. Classes like Basic Yoga (we have that here), What is Synchronicity?, and Face-Lifts the Natural Way can relax and distract any person suffering from workplace stress.
Oh yes, I am! I'm not sure when my need for a football fix edged out my love for baseball, but it happened. Mind you, I'd love nothing more than to be at the Royal's game today and the Chiefs's game tonight. What a kick, that would be!
If you don't share my enthusiasm or don't even understand the game, may I suggest some titles from our shelves? If you do love the game, you'll have fun reading these as well.
It’s happened to all of us at one time or another, readers and non-readers alike. Someone, a friend, a sibling, a parent, a co-worker – SOMEONE comes and tells you that there is a book that ‘you have to read!’ Sometimes you put it off – you try to delay as long as you can – there are so many other things to do. Errands to run, places to go, people to see, (I tend to have too many OTHER things to read) but sooner or later, it catches up with you, and you find yourself curled up with that book everyone’s been talking about.
I placed holds on all of these really great books I want to read by my favorite authors. Some of them, I can only keep for 14 days. I’ll never read all 8 in 28 days, and I know I won’t be able to renew most of them because they are so popular and will be on a waiting list for other people.
