Maura Isles, ME, has gone to Wyoming for a medical conference. After the conference, a group of friends decide to go skiing. En route to the ski area, the group gets caught in a blizzard, and their SUV gets stuck on a drifted mountain road. They find refuge in a remote village - however, all the houses are dark and abandoned.
So, it is that time again. It's time to get out the carving knives and make pumpkins become art. It is amazing what a little time, patience, and a good pattern can do for a pumpkin. We recently held a pumpkin carving program here at the Lee's Summit Branch and look what we made. We had great fun carving and talking. New friends were made, and pumpkins were turned into masterpieces.

All historical records are someone’s best attempt to shed light and truth on events of the past. New discoveries can help illuminate and clarify the record, but we still are left with the accounts of others for our sources. No one can know everything from every possible angle. And even if someone could, someone else would still dispute it.

Well, I experienced this with a book that I recently stumbled upon while searching for Halloween costume ideas. The book, Denim Revolution: Dozens of Ways to Turn Denim Cast-Offs into Fashion Must-Haves by Nancy Minsky was amazing!

I loved the holiday seasons growing up. Not just because of the promise of new presents, but also because of all the yummy cookies, candies, and other delectable treats that we got to sample all month long. Then on the big day, trays of cookies, candies, chocolates, and cakes would be placed on the counter for us to graze through for the next week.
