A few months ago, I wrote a blog about Zumba. It is a Latin-based dance fitness craze that is sweeping the nation. I have been going to classes pretty much weekly for about a year now, and I wanted to check-in and update how things are going.
My update: It's still crazy! Zumba is so much fun! I am getting better at the steps, and sometimes I even remember transitions and songs so I can keep up. I have gone to a few different classes and have learned that the teacher is a big part of a good experience. It is high energy, so if your teacher is slacking, it actually makes things harder than having that effervescent personality I so despised when I first started. In fact, I now find myself flipping my hair and posing during the Beyonce songs. As I thought when I started Zumba time, I have become confident and motivated to do more. I am starting to take classes two days a week now and couldn't be more excited! My next step is to try one of the DVDs to see if I can get the same workout at home for the days I can't make it to the gym. I am waiting on Exhilarate, a DVD of Zumba fitness. Unfortunately, MCPL only has a few Zumba DVDs, but there is always the WorldCat system to check for out-of-system books! At the moment, I am using our ILL system to have Zumba Fitness Complete: Total-body Transformation System sent to me, as well. Hopefully, between these two DVDs and my regular classes, I can dance my way into an even better body and attitude! If you are looking for a fun, energetic way to lose a bit of weight and have a good time, consider Zumba. I love it and I know you will too!
