Your Own Summer Reading Program
June 07, 2012
MCPL has started our annual Summer Reading Program and Teen Summer Reading Program that will run through August 3. As a parent, we bring our children to programs at the Library to enrich their summer and allow them to explore different activities. This summer, the Raytown Branch will have two summer events for teens: Self-Defense for Teens on Thursday June 21 at 6:30 p.m. and Drawing for Beginners for Teens on Thursday July 19 at 6:30 p.m.
Speaking of reading programs, adults also have a reading program called 6 in 12. This program promotes adults reading six books in 2012. Your name is entered into a drawing for a prize each time you add a title and author you have read to your list. (You can read more than six books).
As a way to promote this program, I would like to recommend a series called Regan Reilly by Carol Higgins Clark. I have really been enjoying these books. What I like most is that the lead character, Regan Reilly, is a strong, independent, and funny character. Each book has a different setting, which I find equally exciting. This allows me to explore different areas of the world without spending money!
So, come to your local library or call to find out more about each reading program.
