Your Last Wishes
May 14, 2011
If you were just diagnosed with a life threatening disease and given only a few short weeks to live, what would you want to do with the rest of your time here?
Would you go on a daring adventure in some foreign land? Or go skydiving? Or get a tattoo? Or, would you stay at home to spend the rest of your time with your family and friends?
Here are a few movies about how people facing this dilemma spent their last moments:
The Last Holiday
(Starring Queen Latifah, LL Cool J, and Timothy Hutton) Georgia lives a simple life saving everything she makes. When she is given three weeks to live, she takes her savings and has a European vacation.
My Sister’s Keeper
(Starring Cameron Diaz, Abigail Breslin, and Alec Baldwin) This movie tells the story of a family torn between accepting the wishes of their daughter Kate, who has leukemia, or to try everything in the medical realm to keep her alive longer.
The Last Song
(Starring Miley Cyrus, Liam Hemsworth, and Greg Kinnear) A father dying of cancer wants to spend his last summer with his daughter and son. During that time, they reconnect with each other and try to rebuild their relationship.
The Bucket List
(Starring Jack Nicholson, Morgan Freeman, and Sean Hayes) Two men, both terminally ill, share a hospital room and decide they will work together to accomplish everything they wanted to do before they “kick the bucket.”
