Your Guide To Great Graphic Novels for Kids!
November 08, 2012
Have you been having trouble finding good titles for your comic-loving child to read? Never fear, we are here to help! I recommend A Parent's Guide to the Best Kids' Comics by Scott Robins and Snow Wildsmith. It's an amazing guide for wading through the world of children's comics. With summaries, educational tie-ins, sample pages, and lists of content triggers parents may wish to avoid, it is an indispensable handbook for parents looking to expand their child's graphic novel reading list.
Looking for more recommendations for older kids? Check out the Maverick Graphic Novel Reading List put out by the Texas Library Association. Selected and juried by librarians, the list was designed to encourage grades 6 through 12 to read current graphic novel titles. And we also have some great award-winning titles here at MCPL for all ages, including Smile by Raina Telgemeier, Bone by Jeff Smith, and L. Frank Baum's Wizard of Oz series adapted by Eric Shanower.
Happy Reading!
