For Your Consideration

December 19, 2013

You guys, it’s December! You know what that means, don’t you? All of the best movies of the year are being released!

The Academy Awards are just around the corner (Sunday, March 2, to be exact). The movie studios know that the best way to be nominated is to make sure their best films are fresh in the Academy voters’ minds… and the best way to do that is to have a big, end-of-year movie smorgasbord! That’s why we see big special effects smashes (The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, The Hobbit: the Desolation of Smaug), family features (Frozen), and prestige films (Gravity, The Book Thief) all opening in the same few weeks.

I’ve already seen Catching Fire (loved it!) and have plans to see Saving Mr. Banks and Frozen, but I know that there’s no possible way for me to see all of the great performances and amazing CGI that’s coming our way. What about you? What award-bait films have you seen? What nominations are you crossing your fingers for? Leave a comment to tell us all about it—and then get to the movies! You have a lot of watching to do!
