X-Men: Days of Future Past
June 25, 2014
Marvel movies have always fascinated me. Growing up, I never read all that many comic books. But into my teens, when Marvel Entertainment began to grow more and more popular, I really delved into it. I learned as much as I could about different characters and universes. One of my favorites just happened to be X-Men.
Yesterday, I went with one of my friends and fellow coworker to see X-Men: Days of Future Past. Throughout the entire movie, I was on the edge of my seat—it really made me laugh, cry, and entertained me the whole time. I left the theatre on a movie high, and on the drive home, my friend and I couldn’t stop talking about it.
Some of the best parts of the movie, however, were jokes or Easter eggs only comic-readers would understand. One of those moments just happened to be my favorite scene. Had I not made myself knowledgeable about the X-Men universe through reading comics I checked out from the library, I might have missed out on the entertainment factor for those parts of the movie.
With both, Marvel Entertainment and DC Entertainment, revving their engines, many more comic-based movies, sometimes going above and beyond—learning about the characters and the universe—can bring exponential enjoyment. MCPL offers movie-buffs and comic-fans alike the chance to explore these universes at their own leisure, while still being able to save up for that next movie.
