Our country will celebrate Armed Forces Day this Saturday, May 19th. This day--the third Saturday in May--is set aside each year to honor all branches of the armed services and those who serve in our country's military.
This year, we will have an extra special opportunity for celebrating this holiday. The Wings Over Whiteman event will be held once again at Whiteman Air Force Base near Knob Noster. The show will be held on Saturday and Sunday this coming weekend; gates open at 9:00 a.m. and close at 5:00 p.m. Saturday's opening ceremony will be at 11:00 a.m., and the flying show will start right afterward. This is a terrific opportunity to thank our servicemen in the Air Force and also see some very cool planes. Whiteman is the home of the B-2 Bomber pictured above. Other aircraft scheduled to perform are MIG-17s, A-10s, B-1s, and B-52s.
For more complete information, see the airshow website.
I am looking forward to this event! If you see me next Monday, I'm sure I will have a sunburn, a crick in my neck, and a huge smile on my face!
