Worth a Second Look

March 01, 2011

I continue to sing the praises about the MCPL’s Reference Databases. This time, I have found an all-encompassing reference guide in Credo Reference. Besides encyclopedias, dictionaries, and biographies, I have found quotations, crossword solvers, and ceasurement Conversions, all available in English as well as five other languages. There is a "Find a Book" section which shows the covers and contents of books over a wide range of topics. I can do in-depth research on almost any topic or person, or simply browse images and maps. If I have a general topic and don’t know how to narrow it down, there is a "concept map" which can help. This database is really worth a second look.
