Woodneath Grand Opening Photos
June 26, 2013
On Saturday, June 22, the grand opening was held for the Woodneath Library Center that opened in Kansas City North. A few thousand people showed up to get a look at the new library and to enjoy the fun activities. We wanted to share a few images of the fun we had opening up this new Library jewel. You can find more by visiting Woodneath Library Center on Facebook.
Library Director and CEO Steven V. Potter hosted the grand opening ceremony, which included remarks by Library Board President Brent Schondelmeyer, and Clay County Presiding Commissioner Pam Mason.
Instead of the typical ribbon cutting to open the new building, MCPL "opened the book" on the future of the Woodneath Library Center. The public was encouraged to walk through the book to access the new building and all of its possibilities.
As the public filtered into the new Library Center, passing the automated book return, they were welcomed with family activities, library tours, and free ice cream!
Children were also able to use the computers in the Children's Literacy Center and enjoy free books from Children's Plus!
Don't worry if you missed the grand opening, the Woodneath Library Center isn't going anywhere! Feel free to stop by anytime and check out all the great features! And don't forget, it still isn't too late to leave your mark at Woodneath!
