Winter Birds
February 10, 2011
Water is one of the most important necessities year round for birds. A heated birdbath or heater designed for a birdbath will bring in the birds! Even the birds that don’t come to your feeder will come to your heated water, maybe the American Robin or even the Eastern Bluebird…depending where you live.
A book on birds might include National Geographic Birding Essentials, or Birds in Missouri…so many to choose from.
Thinking about birding this winter? How about checking out www.burroughs.org, click on Birding KC, and you’ll find a list of places, where exactly they are, best times to go, and what you might find.

Bluebirds and robins
I have noticed a lot more American Robins and Eastern Bluebirds this winter than usual. You can help them out by providing some raisins or other dried fruit, since these birds switch to a diet of berries during weather when insects aren't available.
