Winter and Grandkids
February 18, 2011
How much more cold weather and snow do we have to take? I know, I know we are still in February, and it is usually cold. March can be cold, and sometimes it can be mild. April, on the other hand, brings much better weather. Wouldn’t it be nice if we could just have 75-80 degrees and sunny every day, all year around?
When it is cold, I have to be distracted by something else. I try to spend a lot of time with my granddaughter who is 2 years old and my princess. She jabbers constantly and is into everything. I love it when she visits my house because she goes in the other room, gets in her toy box, and brings me some of her books to read. She comes to me with a book and says "Read Please!" She loves books. She loves it when I read to her. Her face just lights up. She gets so excited and claps her hands. I think she will be a reader when she gets older like her grandma.
Mid-Continent has a lot of books that kids love. We always have great books. The RAFT Program (Reading Aloud Family Time) is going on now. You read 3 chapter books to your kids and write them down on the list that you pick up at the library. When you turn in your list at the library, you get a free copy of The Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling. You can also put in for a drawing of the Jungle Book on DVD. You can do as many lists as you want, (you only get one free book), but you can put in for more chances for the drawing of the DVD. Come visit us at one of our branches, or check us out online.
