Wild About Willis!
August 02, 2012
July 17th marked the 110th anniversary of the flipping of a switch to turn on the first air-conditioner. We have Willis Carrier to thank. Not only did he cool rooms, he also decreased their humidity. Both high heat and high humidity are plentiful in Kansas City these days.
Willis was an American inventor. He is high on my list of favorite innovators, alongside Edison, Bell, and Ford. We do a great job coming up with new ideas and inventions. The next big idea that will change the world in a positive way could very well be found in the minds of some of our citizens today.
As I face the dog days of summer, I am grateful for Willis Carrier. Without him, I would be as wilted as all my plants are right now.
