Whole Library Challenge

June 24, 2010

If you’re like most people, you know what you like to read and you stick with it. For some people, it’s Lilian Jackson Braun mysteries. For others, it’s books about the Civil War. Or maybe stories about horses, or maybe stories with ghosts and hauntings. Whatever the case, most people are content to read the same types of books over and over.

And that’s perfectly okay. Everyone has the right to read what they want, and nobody should be forced to defend their reading tastes.

But we shouldn’t forget that there’s a whole world of literature out there, just waiting to be read!

With that in mind, I’d like to present to you the Whole Library Challenge. It’s very simple. To complete the challenge, all you have to do is read…

  • One book from Adult Fiction.
  • One book from Adult Non-Fiction.
  • One book from Juvenile Fiction.
  • One book from YA Fiction.
  • One graphic novel or manga.
  • One audiobook.

There is no time limit, and there are no genre limits. All you have to do is stretch your horizons and find something new to read. I think you’ll find that there are a whole lot of books you’ll love that you’ve never even heard of yet!

If you don’t know where to start, ask a librarian. We’ll all be glad to help you find something to read.

So what are you waiting for? There’s a whole library of books, just waiting to be read.
