Who Was Martin Luther King, Jr. Anyway?
January 23, 2012
We’ve learned about Martin Luther King, Jr. as a man, but who was he as a boy? Martin was like the other children in his neighborhood, so how did he become a great civil rights activist and leader?
In this month’s session of Homeschoolers @ the Library, we’ll listen to stories of Martin's childhood and college years. We’ll learn about his family and how they influenced his decision to work with the community. Through singing songs of the civil rights movement, retelling stories with puppets, and reenacting some of the events that led to changes in our history, we’ll discover those important details about MLK that we don’t always find in a book. Are you ready for an insightful journey into the history surrounding the Civil Rights Movement of the 50s and 60s?
Join us at the Colbern Road Branch on January 26th at 3:00 to learn more about MLK’s life. Both homeschooled and traditionally educated students are invited. We hope to see you there!
