What's On Your Nightstand?

January 24, 2013

Well, it’s happened again. I’ve got too many books to read at the same time! I guess it’s going to happen once in a while when you’ve got 75 items on hold, as I do right now. Now, many of those holds are for feature films, items not released yet from the publisher, and cookbooks (which really don’t take me too long to read). I just have too many good customers that recommend great new authors that I just don’t have time to read them all. One of my customers just recommended that I read Steve Berry, an another referred Donna Leon to my reading list.

A few weeks ago, I blogged about an author that I was unfamiliar with, Jane Casey. On my lunch hour today, I just finished her first novel, The Missing, which I had to borrow from another library system. What a great read! So I guess I’m on the waiting list for her to write more books. I’ve also got two book clubs that I’m trying to keep up with. This month’s evening book club just read Alphabet Weekends by Elizabeth Noble. I don’t know what I expected, but I was pleasantly surprised. And just this week an eBook that I’d put on hold by Gillian Flynn became available.

I just finished Gone Girl by her and was immediately enthralled, so I went back to put her earlier titles on hold. So, I guess my next read must be Dark Places by Gillian Flynn. Since it’s an eBook loan, I HAVE to have it finished before my three week checkout period is up.

I guess that’s not a bad problem to have – too many good things to read. By the way, what’s on your nightstand? I’d love to hear of any good new authors that you’ve come across recently.

I'm rereading The Hunger Games, and then after that I'm trying to read some of John Green's books.
