What's Your Favorite Classic TV Show?
September 12, 2012
We recently switched cable providers at home, and we decided to save a little by not getting receivers for each room. I decided to start watching videos instead of live TV while I worked out in the basement, since there’s not a receiver down there now. I thought, maybe, it would be fun to watch some of my old favorite TV shows, and I was delighted to find that the Library carried almost all of them.
I’ve been working out to The Carol Burnett Show, Cheers, Seinfeld, MASH, and the Sonny & Cher Show. I’m looking forward to also checking out The Partridge Family, Bewitched, and the Cosby Show. It’s especially fun to see the pilot episodes of the old shows, many of which I had never seen back when they were first on. I even checked out some shows that I wasn’t allowed to watch as a kid, like Laugh-In and Love, American Style. (They were pretty goofy, but at least I finally got to see them!)
The Library also has videos of more current TV shows, like The Big Bang Theory, The Closer, CSI, Breaking Bad, and Mad Men. It can be a great way to save money on cable bills. You can browse the 791.45 section of the DVDs to see what’s available, or get on the online catalog and place holds on your favorites. You may have to wait a little while for the most popular ones, but with so many to choose from, you can always have something at home waiting to be watched.
