What's an OPAC?
May 29, 2013
Although it may sound like some kind of llama-like animal, OPAC is actually a library acronym that stands for Online Public Access Catalog. And if you’ve taken a look at our website in the last couple of weeks, you may have noticed some major changes to our online catalog. I’ve found these changes to be for the better and hope you do, too.
The new interface makes it easier to browse our collection of new and forthcoming books, movies, and TV series on DVD and music on CD. You can also narrow your search results by subject, publication date, or author with one click of your mouse.
My favorite thing about the new catalog is the ability to browse the entire contents of your favorite branch, virtually, from the comfort of your home. Simply leave the search field blank, then, on the results page, use the "Limit Search Results" options to narrow things down a bit. Give it a try. If it gives you any trouble, be sure and call and let us know or have us show you how it works during your next visit to the Blue Ridge Branch.
