What's Going on Here?
April 22, 2013
How many of you noticed that MCPL's doors were locked tight on Tuesday? It wasn’t just the Kearney Branch. Not a gas leak. No, we didn’t go on strike or take a spontaneous vacation day. All thirty branches were closed on Tuesday so the entire staff could attend over a dozen workshops aimed at making us even better at all the things we do at the Library.
Each staff member got to choose which topic he or she wanted to explore. There were all-day programs on solving technology nightmares, genealogy, early literacy, library safety and security, and even one on health and wellness at work. And sure, the presenters all tried to make their programs fun, but the point was to make us better able to serve your needs.
Never fear, we’re open again for our regular hours until Memorial Day. Next time you come in, ask anybody on the staff which workshop they attended. They’ll be happy to show-off their new expertise!
