What's on Display?

September 14, 2011

Come check out Smithville's annual Veteran's Salute display. This year features several panels that detail the events surrounding Pearl Harbor. The display is a lead-in to the Veteran's Salute celebration held at the Platte City Branch on October 22. Mark your calendar for that event which includes vintage military vehicles, a USO show, and veteran's roundtable discussions.

Also, Let's Hear it For the Boys! A special display featuring books for and about boys has been set up by the public computers. Don't let the start of school and the challenges of raising boys get you down--come browse our book selections. Help the boys in your life succeed and read! Titles that appeal to a wide-range of boys include Theodore Boone Kid Lawyer by John Grisham, the Roscoe Riley Rules series, Football Champ, Zombiekins, and many more.

Coming Up:
Look for displays featuring authors of the week in both juvenile and adult fiction. Find out some interesting biographical facts about the author and peruse a selection of that author's work. Writers to watch for: Karen Robards, John Sandford, James Patterson, Patricia Cornwell and more.
