What Would Your Library Look Like?
October 16, 2012
If you were given a room to fill and use as your very own library, what would it look like? Would you fill it floor to ceiling with hardback books? Would it be high-tech with computer monitors lining the walls and eReaders stashed in drawers? What does your ideal library look like?
Recently, I read Living with Books by Roland Beaufre, which gives a glimpse into the homes of collectors, designers, and writers who have created special places for their books. Some have small book nooks, others are more concerned with the proper care and storage of their materials, but all of them share a love of the printed word.
Through Beaufre’s 220 photographs, you can see that the book as an art form is still appreciated and upheld. Whether digital or antique, stacked by the bed or kept behind glass, books are still a way to express what we value most—the written word. How do you display your collection?
