What Should I Read Next?

March 08, 2013

Have you recently finished a good book or a great series and are at a loss for what to read next? Do you browse through the stacks at your library wondering what you should pick? Fear not, MCPL has the answer with Reading Suggestions!

There are two great ways to find what you’re looking for: email newsletters and read alike lists! Email newsletters offer a variety of subjects for you to peruse. Read alike lists will provide you with titles and/or authors that are similar to the ones you like.

Your options include:

BookLetters – A newsletter that allows you to choose from a list of options (including, but not limited to: Library eNews, Books on the Air, Children’s Books, Fiction Adventure, New DVDs, Science and Nature, and more) that will be sent to your email inbox daily, weekly, or monthly – you decide!

Online Book Clubs – Don’t have time to meet with a Book Club? That’s okay, join our online book club and you don’t have to worry about setting a date! Choose your favorite genre (or a new one to try) and you’ll receive a five minute read every day, so that at the end of the week you will have read several chapters of the book.

Non-Fiction Connection – This resource provides exclusively non-fiction titles that allow you to narrow down your options by choosing a topic, genre, setting, character, location, and timeframe.

Fiction Connection – This resource is similar to the Non-Fiction Connection except that is provides exclusively fiction titles.

NoveList Plus – A special feature of this resource is the option to use it on your Android or iOS. Find titles that are similar to books that you like to read now!

Books & Authors – This Gale resource will allow you to search for both fiction and nonfiction titles, and it’s also available for your Android or iOS.

Happy reading!
