What Should I Make For Dinner?

March 03, 2012

Whenever I’m wondering what to make for dinner, a good cookbook can usually point me in the right direction. I know most guys don’t have much interest in cookbooks. But I have to admit, I have always loved them and have been collecting them for years. Actually, I had to stop when I ran out of room. The house just isn’t big enough. I enjoy relaxing with a good cookbook as much as with a good novel. It’s fun looking for and discovering new and different recipes. Checking out cookbooks from the library allows me to continue this favorite pastime without crowding me out of house and home.

Like most people these days, I don’t have much time to cook. To be honest, I just don’t have the energy or desire to tackle long, complex recipes anymore. That’s why I especially like quick and easy recipes that require only a few steps and a handful of ingredients. Many of my favorites take advantage of convenience foods such as frozen vegetables, canned beans, or even boxed mixes. These "homemade" dishes can be just as delicious and satisfying as those made completely from scratch.

So, whether you’re only cooking for survival or you just don’t have the time or energy to cook, check out some quick and easy cookbooks from the library. To find some, simply type "quick and easy cooking" into the search box of our catalog. Then, the next time you’re stuck with the question "What should I make for dinner?," you’ll have plenty of great ideas and terrific inspiration.
