What Is He Thinking?

August 03, 2011

Do you ever wonder what goes on in a little boy’s head? Could he be thinking; "They make a nice hat", "Will they scare the girls away?" Or, "maybe, just maybe, they will be my best friends for life".

Well this young man is my grandson, and he is just crazy about frogs and toads. However, as his grandmother, all I can think is "How many warts will he get?" Now we all know that the warts thing is just an old wives' tale, but it is still in the back of my mind. His mother let him keep the toads with just a few misgivings. They had to stay in their new home, because she didn’t want anyone to get up at night and step on his new friends. I picture it kind of like stepping on one of the treats (hair balls) my cats leave behind. If you own cats, you know what I mean. He also had to learn about frogs and toads and how to take care of them.

So if your grandchild or child decides to make a new friend, take a trip to your local library and brush up on the care and feeding of toads!
