What Do You Want to Be When You Grow Up?
February 17, 2012
This is such an odd question to continually ask my teenagers, especially when it is a question I’m not sure I ever answered for myself. What advice do I have to offer? And, are my children being prepared to answer this question at the very grown-up, by all standards, "adult" age of 18. Is being a Business Major enough?
On the top 10 career choices for 2011, Business Week has massage therapist ranked #1 for popularity. The high paying careers require medical, math, or computer knowledge. Sadly, backpacking across America was not listed as a career option.
So, I’ll keep asking the question "What do you want to be when you grow up?" Though the most popular and high paying careers don’t seem to be the same, no statistic or report can take the place of following a dream.
Bottom line, love what you do and have the knowledge to do it well!
