What Can I Bring?

July 12, 2011

It seems like I always bring the same few dishes to family gatherings, so this cookbook caught my eye and has motivated me to try something new. In the What Can I Bring? Cookbook, author Anne Byrn has put together over 200 easy-to-tote dishes for parties, picnics, potlucks, barbecues, and any get together.

The recipes are simple to make and use readily available ingredients. The chapters include: Soups, Salads, Main Dishes, Sides, Desserts, and Gift ideas. Each recipe has "how to tote" notes telling how to best transport the food, including clever container advice and wrapping tips.

The mini index groups the recipes by the following categories:

  • The Easiest Recipes
  • Something Green
  • When You Want Something Light
  • Something Special
  • Cool Dishes for Warm Weather
  • Something Pretty
  • To Feed a Crowd
  • Something Spicy
  • Something Sweet
  • Cozy and Comforting
  • Something Chocolate
  • Something Kids Like

This is a fun and easy to use cookbook. So many recipes sounded good that the hardest part for me was picking which one to try first. I think I will try Barb’s Taco Ring on page 187.

Also, check out the author’s website to make it...bring it...eat it!
