What Are You Thankful For?

November 16, 2012

If you have a Facebook Page, you’re probably very accustomed now to seeing posts from friends who are participating in the "30 Days of Thanks" challenge for the month of November. Sometimes these posts are annoying to see when, for example, friends post long, detailed paragraphs of something they are thankful for that day, and then every single day afterwards. Sometimes, it can be refreshing to see that people are finding thanks for the simplest things in life and learning to be content and happy with what they DO have rather than what they don’t. I personally have not participated in the "30 Days of Thanks" posts on Facebook. However, about a week or so into November, I decided to do something similar and began writing little notes to my husband every day about something I am thankful about in regards to him. I then left notes around our house where I knew he would find them… eventually.

So I’m curious to know, what are YOU thankful for? Are you doing something similar this month to express your thanks for things, people, or life? Maybe you have a difficult time finding things to be thankful for? You can check out these books from the Library for more encouragement. How will you choose to celebrate the Thanksgiving Holiday this year? Will you be having a big Thanksgiving dinner with family? The Library has lots of Thanksgiving cookbooks to help with your meal planning for the big day. Or, perhaps, your tradition is more of going out to eat somewhere instead of slaving away in the kitchen for most of the day?

Whatever your plans are, I hope that you will reflect on something to be grateful for in regards to this past year. We, here at the Excelsior Springs Branch, are thankful for your patronage, and we trust that you are grateful for your library and the resources provided to you! We would like to also remind you that the Library will be closed on Thanksgiving Day (Thursday, November 22nd), but we will reopen Friday, November 23rd at 9:00 a.m. Thank you, and enjoy your holiday!
