What Is All the Hype About?
September 28, 2011
Usually, the hype of the new television season is all about the new shows. Well this year, it just might be about the old shows. There is no doubt that the 2011-2012 TV season shall be interesting and entertaining. Whether an actor or actress is starring in a new show or your old favorite is returning, you may find television on DVD a fun and free option to just veg and hang out. Look no further than MCPL for your favorites.
While Charlie Sheen is no longer a part of Two and a Half Men, the library has plenty of past season favorites ready for you to checkout or request. Ashton Kutcher may be replacing Sheen, but if you are missing Charlie, go online or check out your local MCPL branch for previous seasons of the show on DVD.
There is of course Glee. I have many friends and even some co-workers who are hooked on Glee. MCPL has both seasons on DVD. As an added bonus, the library also has Glee CDs available too. It is indeed a hot show. Jane Lynch just hosted the Emmys, and Gwyneth Paltrow won an Emmy for her guest starring role last season.
Oh, how could anyone forget Castle? There is a little bit of everything in this show: mystery, intrigue, romance, and comedy. The first and second seasons are available for checkout or request. The third season is on order and can be put on hold. The show is about a female detective named Kate Beckett played by Stana Katic. It also stars Nathan Fillion as famous mystery writer Richard Castle. Together, they solve crimes. One might go as far as to compare the dynamic duo to sugar and spice.
Of course, I have my two personal favorites: The return of the Good Wife and How I Met Your Mother. Julianna Margulies stars in this outstanding legal drama as you guessed it, a lawyer, which she won an Emmy for. She has always been a great actress, but she is especially terrific in this show. In fact, the whole cast is outstanding. The library offers the first season on DVD. The second season is on order, but you are certainly welcome to request it.
If you are looking for laughs, I highly recommend How I Met Your Mother. The show focuses on the friendship and lives of five friends. Neil Patrick Harris shines as Barney. The library carries past seasons of the comedy.
So, whatever your television tastes, I am sure that the library has a favorite of yours. Check MCPL's catalog, or come visit us!
