What about Books?
November 12, 2012
Are we heading for a time when there will no longer be the printed page? The outlook is grim. Many newspapers and magazines are no longer being published and are available for electronic download only. You won't find a quaint bookstore on every block of the city like you used to. The eReaders, like the Nook and Kindle, are the way of the future for downloading and reading the latest bestseller. I can see the convenience of these devices but hate to see the printed page disappear.
We can be a progressive society without losing out on the thrill of starting a new novel and opening to Chapter 1. There is just something about the smell and feel of a real book. I will miss being able to peruse shelves of books looking for something that appeals to me. Hopefully, we will never come to the point when libraries are no longer needed. They provide a service that no electronic device can replace, one-on-one customer service.
