Weird but True!

September 10, 2012

National Geographic Kids has a cool series of books…Weird but True! These books contain some weird facts about everyday things and some interesting stories on different subjects. Such as…

  1. In South Carolina it’s illegal for kids to play pinball.
  2. A Seattle, Washington dog ate $1200 that it found on top of a dresser.
  3. It is illegal to honk your horn in front of a sandwich shop at night in Little Rock, Arkansas.
  4. It’s illegal to own a smelly dog in Galesburg, Illinois.
  5. The most overdue library book was 288 years late.
  6. Peanut butter can be converted into a diamond.
  7. There are 29 different shades of red Crayola crayons.
  8. Your body contains about 60,000 miles of blood vessels.
  9. Hippo sweat is red.
  10. Houseflies buzz in the key of F.
  11. More text messages are sent each day than there are people on earth.

My boys love reading about the strange things in these books, and are continually laughing at the "stupid criminal" stories. Check them out at your local MCPL, maybe your kids will enjoy them too!
