Wedding Week!

Two enormous words: "Wedding Week." Those two words are almost as HUGE as the words "Wedding Day." All the months of planning come to a peak on Wedding Week. I find myself saying things such as:

"Can’t do that this week, ask me after the wedding!”
"Forget that detail, it isn’t that important!"
"Don’t give me more options to choose from! Just do it!"

I was trying to put some thoughts together about wedding week, trying to make sense of it all. But then I was told, "Maybe wedding week isn’t supposed to make sense."

It’s true. It just doesn’t make sense.

In some ways, it is funny. Details that I had a definite opinion on weeks ago are simply not important anymore. Instead, the truly important tasks have come into sharp focus.

Wedding Week…the only time I’ve had less sleep was during Finals Week(s) in college.

Another funny fact I have discovered, weddings are full of the "hurry up and wait" principle. Just like an airport.

Many people argue that fairytales aren’t real, that nothing like those stories happens in real life. Well, I think anyone who makes it through Wedding Week has (metaphorically) climbed a HUGE mountain to marry the person they love. That definitely meets fairytale standards.

The best thing I can tell you from this week…MY Wedding Week…is if you are planning a wedding, don’t let Wedding Week catch you by surprise. I am busy, but not drowning.
