We Are Here to Help!
July 07, 2010
Do you know the two most common mistakes library patrons make? They are: believing that patrons should not bother the clerks with questions; believing that library clerks should know everything related to books and publishing.
Let’s take them one at a time. First and foremost, always feel free to ask for help. Every library is different and each library may have new arrangements, organizational situations, or displays that can cause the casual library user some confusion. Clerks like to help. Go ahead and ask.
Second, while library clerks do not know everything about books and publishing, they do have incredible resources to help you find answers to most questions. They may have to use the computer, make phone calls, or even call you later with answers to research questions, but the Mid-Continent library clerks never back down from a challenge. The answer may take time, but you’ll nearly always get what you need
