We Are Happy To Help!
January 07, 2011
Did you get a new e-reader for the holidays? Maybe, you got a fancy new MP3 player? The next step is adding great new content, and what better place to get started than the library?
Did you know that MCPL now carries downloadable audiobooks and ebooks? The best part about our new resources is that, unlike our competition, ours are offered for FREE! We have two services that you can utilize: NetLibrary and OverDrive. Both services feature audiobooks, while OverDrive features ebooks as well, including best sellers and new titles of all genres. They offer step-by-step instructions on how to download the software necessary, and offer tips on how to use the service. For tips and tricks, check out the NetLibrary User's Guide or the OverDrive video tutorial on digital media or their Digital Help FAQ.
We understand that it may be a little challenging. Bring in your laptop, your portable media devices, and we'll be happy to help you set it up. Still unsure how everything works? Smithville will be offering Internet 101 classes on February 7th, March 7th, and April 4th. Feel free to bring your laptops and portable media devices to ask questions.
ebook tip: Before you begin downloading the necessary software from OverDrive, be sure to create an Adobe account here. This must be done previous to downloading the Adobe Digital Editions software, or you will encounter an error. Then, you will need to download the OverDrive media console, and Windows users may need to upgrade their Windows Media Player to version 9 or above.
