Want To Learn a New Language?
September 16, 2011
Maybe you're planning a trip, or studying for a class. Maybe you're trying to connect with distant relatives, or just curious. Whatever the reason, if you're looking for more information on languages, the library is here to help. From language books, to audio courses on CD and Cassette – foreign films to electronic resources, we've got you covered. We have all kinds of resources for you to use, and they're all free of charge!
Even if you're at home, you can use our language databases:
Mango Languages is a great interactive learning tool. Learn languages from Spanish to Slovak, French or even Farsi. You can listen to words and phrases spoken by a native speaker, and record your own voice for comparison. You can even use Mango to brush up on your Pirate speak, just in time for International Talk Like a Pirate Day on September 19th!
For kids, we also have Muzzy Online – Learn a new language or improve skills in English through games and videos.
We also have many books, audiobooks, and films in our circulating collection in languages besides English. Just go to the advanced search option of our online catalog to choose your desired language, or come in to the branch or call us at 630-6721 and a staff member can assist you!
