The Wall That Heals

"The Wall That Heals" is the traveling exhibition of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall located in Washington, D.C.  The Wall will be exhibited at Pink Hill Park, in Blue Springs, Missouri from September 30 - October 3, 2010. On display are original newspaper articles from the Washington Post, a commemorative plate, and a personal photo of some of the groundbreakers that day in Washington, D.C., one of whom is my husband.  The Oak Grove Branch has a small display with items that can be checked out. Offerings at the Wall: Artifacts from the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Collection by Thomas B. Allen describes the offerings left at the Wall, which are photographed, cataloged, and warehoused each night. Did you know that the first offering to the wall was a Purple Heart thrown into the cement as it was being poured for the monument? The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Directory of Names lists those servicemen who lost their lives.
