Waddle and Strut
March 29, 2012
For the last several years now, the Blue Springs North Branch has either had an incubator to hatch chicken eggs, or brought in live chicks. A lot of people seem to enjoy them, especially the kids.
This year we decided to get ducklings instead of chicks. Much debate has gone on about which is cuter and in particular, which will be cuter as adults. The consensus seems to be that ducks are cuter than chickens. I’ve spent a lot of time observing the tiny fowl in their container that sits on the front desk, and I’m on the fence about which is cuter. I appreciate both in their own way. For one thing, each has a unique way of walking. The ducklings have an adorable waddle, while the chicks pick up their feet and curl their toes in an intricate strut.
The ducklings will be our guests hopefully for a couple of weeks, unless they get too large for their container.
