The Voyage of the Dawn Treader
July 03, 2013
Looking for a good family movie to watch? Recently, I sat down to watch The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader once again. It happens to be my favorite of the Narnia movies, closely followed by The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.
In Voyage of the Dawn Treader, Lucy and Edmund return to Narnia with their horrible cousin, Eustace, and embark on an adventure with King Caspian to find the seven Lords of Narnia. These Lords were forced to flee for their lives across the sea to the east when Caspian’s uncle, Miraz, took the throne years before. The four travel across the sea toward the Lone Islands, in the hope of bringing the Lords back to Narnia.
Along the way, they encounter some wonderfully strange creatures, such as the Dufflepuds, and have several trials and adventures, including a run-in with a pool of water that turns everything that touches it into gold. They discover an evil mist that is kidnapping people and tempting them, and also find out that they can defeat the mist by bringing together the seven swords of the seven Lords and laying them on Aslan’s Table. Along the way, Eustace learns to be a better person (maybe even a hero), and Reepicheep the Talking Mouse finds his destiny. All in all, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader is an excellent movie for kids and adults alike.
