Vote for Building Block Award Book
September 18, 2012
Have you ever read a children's book that you loved and wished you could give it an award? You can do just that with Missouri's 2012 Building Block Picture Book Award. Ten books have been nominated to receive this award, and your child can vote at your local MCPL for the one he or she likes best.
Between Sept. 1 and Dec. 31, children not yet in first grade who have had at least five of the nominees read to them may vote once for their favorite title from the list of nominees. Last year, 19,924 children voted, and their favorite book was Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes by Eric Litwin.
The purpose of this award is to encourage language development, provide quality books for parents to read to their children, and continue publication of quality picture books and more. But really, all you need to know is that it is fun for you and your child.
