The Vampire Support Group Teen Book Club
August 19, 2010
You’ve read the whole Twilight series five times, can recite entire chapters by heart, and seen all of the movies (at midnight showings on the first day they came out). The anticipation of waiting for the final book in the Vladimir Tod series to finally come out is slowly killing you. You eat, drink, sleep, and breathe vampires, but you still just can’t get enough. What to do? What to do?
How about joining the Teen Book Club: Vampire Support Group, starting this fall at the Lee’s Summit Branch? There, you can meet similarly obsessed people, discover new and exciting titles to fuel your addiction, and even earn your Vampire Awareness Mastery Program (VAMP) Certificate to become a Vampire Fiction Master. Over the course of four monthly meetings, we will explore all aspects of the world of vampire fiction, from Dracula to the modern teenage vampire. At our meetings, we will discuss the titles we read, talk about other faves (ahem…Twilight), and make reading recommendations. Plus, there will be refreshments, games, and even prizes. All teens are welcome to attend one or all of the meetings, which are Tuesdays: September 14th, October 12th, November 9th, and December 14th at 6:30 p.m. The first book to read, in preparation for the first meeting, is the classic Dracula by Bram Stoker. To keep things interesting, the original text, an abridged version, and a graphic novel adaptation are available. Take your pick, or if you’re feeling ambitious, check out all three. Pick up the version of Dracula of your choice at the circulation desk today, and start reading. See you September 14th!
