Vacation Time
July 02, 2010
Summer means two things in the library world – the Summer Reading Program and vacations. If you’re headed out of town this July or August – and you’re worried that the book you’ve had on the holds list since January is going to come in while you’re out of town – and be gone before you get back… don’t panic! You can ‘suspend’ your hold while you’re out of town! This will hold your place in line. It also means you won't lose your chance to read the highly popular The Help by Kathryn Stockett or that movie you’ve been waiting to watch, such as New Moon or Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief.
You can suspsend your holds by contacting your local branch, either in person or via the phone.

Kids Learning How To Read
I love this post! I got a good laugh when I read the first sentence. Growing up, I loved two things in the summer. I loved going on vacations with my family, whether camping, pool, beach, or to relatives houses. Secondly, I loved going to the library. My love for reading developed in 4th grade and has continued on ever since.
Unfortunately now, I work in the summer and am not always available to take my kids to the library. At times when I am working, and can't physically take them to the library, I let them use a program on our home computer that is reading software for kids and it helps teach them to read. This past year, the program has helped my daughter come leaps and bounds in her reading progress. Anyways, thanks for sharing, I am excited for my summer vacation this summer.
