An Unknown Resource for the Kansas City Area
April 26, 2012
I don’t think many people know about an underutilized resource available to us in the Kansas City metro area – the National Archives. The National Archives has a regional archive located downtown, right next to Union Station. Those interested in genealogical research can take advantage of their research room and genealogical databases.
What my husband and I enjoy the most, though, are the exhibit galleries. The exhibits rotate every couple of months, and we have enjoyed every one that we have viewed.
A civil war exhibit, Divided Loyalties: Civil War Documents from the Missouri State Archives, ends this Saturday, April 28. It is definitely worth the trip. One that is next on our list is They're Not Going to Get Me: Crime in the 1930s. This resource is also FREE, which is always one of my favorite forms of weekend entertainment!
