Oogy: the Dog Only a Family Could Love by Larry Levin is a doggy love story where the worst imaginable treatment of an animal meets the best that man has to offer. In 2002, Larry Levin and his twin sons took their terminally ill cat into their vet’s office and unexpectedly met a young, white pup named Oogy. Oogy was rescued during a police raid on a house suspected to have allowed dog fighting. He had been used as bait for other fighting dogs because he refused to engage in fights. As a result, Oogy was missing an ear, badly injured and malnourished. However, the Levin family only saw an excited, happy dog that just had to be part of their family.
The Levins bring Oogy home to heal and learn how to be a family pet. He quickly finds that he no longer has to be afraid and is accepted as one of their own. Reciprocally, the twins, Noah and Dan, find a true connection with Oogy because they are adopted as well and, as Oogy becomes the “third twin", an unbreakable bond is formed. Through the growing pains of having a new dog and young boys, the Levins realize that a good life is made of who you love, not where they’ve come from.
Oogy will make your heart melt and put a smile on your face. His story of redemption is one you can’t miss.
